Description

In the late 1930s, the Felician Sisters began giving and supporting the community that surrounded their convent at 25 Augusta Avenue. The Sisters assisted their community in many different ways. The first was building a nursery for the children of new Canadian immigrants. At some point, people experiencing poverty and homelessness began asking for food, and they responded to that call by giving out soup to anyone who knocked on the back door of their convent. This was the start of our Community Meals Program, and with it, St. Felix Centre.
