Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Toronto was founded in 1879, and we’re named after a series of Marian apparitions that occurred in 1858 near a village in France called Lourdes. The parish is administered by the Society of Jesus - the largest religious order in the Catholic Church - whose members are known as the Jesuits.
